PETA Supporters Crash New York Fashion Week Runway, Jennifer Lopez & Anna Wintour React
During the Coach Spring 2024 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week, PETA supporters crashed and walked the runway with the slogan “Coach: Leather Kills.”

Attendees at the Coach Spring 2024 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week witnessed a surprising incident when People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) supporters crashed the show. The Fashion Show was conducted at the main branch of the New York Public Library on Thursday, September 7, reports Entertainment Tonight. Among the many film and fashion stalwarts who graced the event, Jennifer Lopez and British and American media executive Anna Wintour marked their presence, sitting in the front row when the protesters displayed their objection to using leather in front of them and the others present at the venue.

The video which is currently doing the rounds on the internet shows a blonde-haired woman, dressed in a blush pink crop top coupled with a similar shaded skirt walking down the runway, quite dramatically. She proudly displayed a poster with the message “Coach: Leather Kills” inscribed on it, holding the banner high up in the air for everyone to see. The PETA logo was also affixed at the bottom.

Another black-haired woman shared the ramp with the blonde. She seemed to make a non-verbal statement by covering her body in paint resembling a skinless human, with realistic-looking illustrations of flesh, tendons, and muscles. The words, “Coach Leather Kills” were painted on her chest. Jennifer Lopez and Anna Wintour were spotted watching the protestors before they quickly turned their attention toward the runway looks of the other models.

The video concluded with a security guard at the Fashion Show dragging the blonde-haired protester away from the premises. According to the press release issued on the official website of PETA, the protesters wanted to slam the brand Coach “for its cruelty to cows and its reliance on environmentally destructive leather products.”

Although Jennifer Lopez did not directly react to the incident on social media, she did drop a video of herself on Instagram, taking a subtle dig at the PETA supporters at the fashion show. She brought up a dialogue reference from Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep’s acclaimed film Devil Wears A Prada, where Steep’s character Miranda Priestly says, “Oh, don’t be ridiculous, Andrea, everybody wants this. Everybody wants to be us.” “Meta moment… lol… COACH NYFW,” she captioned the post.

Jennifer Lopez looked like a million bucks dressed in a tan suede coat featuring fringe accents. She complemented her glammed-up outfit with high-rise, snakeskin-printed boots. Anna Wintour has not yet commented on the matter.
