Yellow Alert For Mumbai & Adjoining Areas, Snowfall Alert in Himachal and J&K | Weather Updates

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall in multiple states across the country. A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Maharashtra until Monday, November 27 by the weather department.

A western disturbance will approach northwest India leading to unseasonal rainfall in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa till November 27, said IMD in a statement.

WEATHER UPDATES

• Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Konkan, Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra till November 27.
• The regional weather department of Maharashtra has also alerted about unseasonal rainfall, indicating strong winds, and thunderstorms in Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai. The department has also issued a yellow alert for the three districts.
• The rain is also expected to reduce the air pollution and improve the air quality in Mumbai.
• “Due to the formation of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, thunderstorm activities are likely to begin at isolated places of south Maharashtra from tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued for November 26-28 across Maharashtra,” Sunil Kamble, Head, of IMD Mumbai informed to news agency, PTI.
• Thunderstorm and hail are likely over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat till November 26.
• Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh may witness thunderstorm, hail, and heavy showers till November 28.
• A cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge into south Andaman sea and Bay of Bengal till November 26.
• Due to circulation, light to moderate rainfall accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands till November 28, said the statement from IMD.
• Fishermen are advised not to venture into Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal till November 29.
• Minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2 to 4°C over many states from November 28.
• Due to heavy downpours schools were closed in Tamil Nadu today. Heavy rainfall have also resulted into waterlogging and traffic jams in various districts.
