Passengers at Ahmedabad airport were seen dressed up as Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Lakshman on Thursday morning to catch IndiGo’s first flight to Ayodhya ahead of the Ram temple’s grand consecration ceremony on January 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Ayodhya airport was inaugurated by PM Modi last month. Soon, the holy city will welcome lakhs of devotees visiting the shrine as the newly built Ram Temple will open its doors on January 22.

In the viral video, four passengers were captured dressed up as Lord Ram, Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman at the Ahmedabad airport premises.

Before the flight took off for the holy city, airline crew members were seen offering sweets to the passengers. With slogans of ‘Jai Shree Ram’, the passengers boarded the maiden flight. They were also presented with an idol of Lord Ram at the airport premises.

“I cannot describe my feelings in words. I am here (Ayodhya) to worship Lord Ram, so there’s nothing else going on in my mind,” said a passenger to the news agency, PTI as a flight from Ahmedabad lands at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya.

Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia flagged off the maiden flight earlier today. With this inauguration, Ayodhya gets three direct flights a week from Ahmedabad.

Along with Scindia, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Minister of Tourism and Culture Uttar Pradesh Jayveer Singh, Member of Parliament from Ayodhya Lallu Singh and Member of Parliament from Ahmedabad, Dr Kirit Premjibhai Solanki were present.

Speaking after the inauguration, Scindia said, “The direct flight from Ayodhya to Ahmedabad will give a further boost to air connectivity between both cities.”

The Union Minister also said that the two cities represent India in the true sense, adding that on one hand, Ahmedabad is a symbol of India’s economic strength and on the other hand, Ayodhya represents India’s spiritual and civilizational prowess. “Air connectivity between the two cities will contribute to the economic growth, and help travel and tourism grow as well.” said the minister.
