Sanjana Sanghi Eyes Global Platform, Says She Is 'Getting Calls' For International Roles | Exclusive
Sanjana Sanghi says she has been getting calls to audition for international projects.

The year 2023 has been a special year for Sanjana Sanghi as she had two releases Dhak Dhak and Kadak Singh and her performance in both projects has been lauded by the critics as well as the audience. Sanghi’s first release was Dhak Dhak, which narrates the journey of four women from different walks of life who come together for an extraordinary journey filled with emotions, adventures, and self-discovery as they embark on a biking trip. Her latest film, Kadak Singh, is a mystery thriller that falls somewhere between the bridges of an emotional drama and a whodunit. It also features Pankaj Tripathi opened to a crackling response as it was released on Zee5.

After tasting success in Indian cinema, the young actor has set her eyes to go international. In an exclusive conversation with News18, Sanghi says that she wants to explore films on the global stage. “I’ve been reading a few things about auditioning for some roles. Thanks to OTT, filmmakers across the globe have been able to see my work. Our work is so easily accessible and cultural also it isn’t alienating anymore. I have been getting calls and interests from overseas. I believe Dil Bechara, which was an official remake of The Fault In Our Stars, did make people notice and I believe Dhak Dhak and Kadak Singh have just expedited that process,” she said.

The actor says that she is ecstatic and at the same time validated for having a successful year, “People got to see me in different shades. There’s much love from people on social media and everywhere else. It also validates my decision. These were decisions which I made from my heart and they were instinctive. When you are at the early stages of your career, you’re not sure of the factors that guide you and ultimately say yes, but I’ve learned that with the releases that I have had. The success of Dhak Dhak and Kadak Singh just assures me as an actor that I am on the right track and I need to stick to that lane and chase the filmmakers that I want to be under the tutelage of. It also somewhere gives you that reassurance and confidence which is always helpful.”

Ask her if the success of the two films changes her approach towards work and she says, “It doesn’t. There is a line in Dhak Dhak which says, ‘Safar zindagi hai ya manzil.’ And I have always been that person. It’s the process that matters more than the result. Kadak Singh has been appreciated and supported by the audiences, but even if it didn’t, I would still have done the film as an actor. It is because of the process where I got to spend time with Pankaj sir, and with Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury (director). I learned so much from them and it helped me improve the craft. It gave me so much confidence. If we as artists try to choose our scripts basis whether they will work or not, I don’t think that you are setting yourself up for success”

Sanghi says that she is looking forward to the new year. “I’m very happy that the makers are approaching me with all different kinds of challenges.2024 is even more exciting because I’m doing something that I’ve never done before,” she concluded the chat.
