Mohamed Salah Looks Set to Start Playing for Liverpool Soon after Hamstring Injury at AFCON
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has now been undergoing an “intensive rehabilitation programme” at the AXA Training Centre.

Mohamed Salah seems to be in a hurry to get back on his feet as the Liverpool forward was recently spotted sweating it out at the gym late in the night. The Egypt star has been recovering from a hamstring injury that he sustained at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. Salah had left Liverpool last month to represent his country at the AFCON. He pulled off a roaring start to the campaign, converting a last-minute penalty in the tournament opener against Mozambique. His goal helped Egypt secure a crucial point from the nervy clash, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Salah started in the next group-league fixture against Ghana but limped off the pitch in the dying moments of the first half. The reports of a scan revealed that the 31-year-old winger had a “proper tear” in his hamstring. Considering the severity of his wound, it was predicted that the injury would keep Salah out of action for almost a month. He immediately took a return flight to Liverpool following a mutual agreement between the Premier League club and the Egyptian FA.

Salah has now been undergoing an “intensive rehabilitation programme” at the AXA Training Centre. He has already missed several important assignments including the away match against Arsenal last Sunday. Ahead of Liverpool’s home game against Chelsea on February 1, boss Jurgen Klopp told the media, “He’s not ready for this game, not for the next game against Arsenal as well.”

Salah is no doubt giving his best to regain fitness. Last week, he dropped a picture on Instagram where he was seen running at Liverpool’s training facility. “Recovery work continues,” Salah wrote in the caption of the post.

Salah shared a couple of photos on his Instagram story on Monday. The first one was clicked at the AXA Training Centre, while in the other, Salah was seen undergoing a gym session at his home in Liverpool.

After the pictures surfaced on the internet, fans started to speculate about Salah returning to action in Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League game against Burnley, scheduled for February 10.

Despite skipping a few matches, Salah remains the leading goal-scorer in the English top-flight this season. He has netted 14 goals in 20 Premier League appearances while providing 8 assists.
