No matter your age, a healthy skincare should part of your daily routine if you want skin that not only looks young but is also healthy and nourished. Dr Ravali Yalamanchili, Founder, Neya Dermatology & Aesthetics shares tips to achieve glowing skin:

  1. Never Too Late To Start Retinol & Vitamin CRetinol is a derivative of vitamin A. This ingredient is commonly used in skin care products because of its anti-aging effects. Patients in their late 40s, 50s and 60s often wonder if retinol will benefit them at their age, and they ask me if it’s simply too late to try this skincare product. It is definitely not too late to start using retinol, whatever your age, essentially, retinol is one of the most vital ingredients when it comes to getting the beautiful, healthy skin you want. Start with a percentage of 0.3 and use it only 1-2 times a week. You can move on to 0.5 and then up to 1% when your skin is ready, but not on the first use. Use products that include antioxidant ingredients. Vitamin C (which is great for pigmentation issues) is a powerful antioxidant, it prevents oxidative damage by binding to the free radicals caused by UV radiation and pollution. It will leave your skin glowing, and brighter as just like retinoids it will improve the appearance of your skin tone.
  2. SPFThe American Academy of Dermatology recommends using sunscreen every day that you plan to be outside. The sun emits harmful rays year-round, even on cloudy days. Sun exposure depletes collagen, causes pigmentation and causes premature ageing. Using sunscreen is the foundation to your journey to have youthful skin. To protect your skin, apply sunscreen to all skin that clothing will not cover. You want to use a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection, SPF 30 (or higher), and water resistance.
  3. Inner & Outer Hydration As we age, we tend to dry up, so that the average water content of an adult is 55%-60%. By the time most of us are old enough to retire, our water content is down to just 50%. You can help keep your skin healthy and rejuvenated by improving your skin’s hydration levels. The first step to hydrating your skin is hydrating your body – drink an adequate amount of water and consume hydrating foods like cucumber, watermelon, melon etc. Use a moisturizer with hydrating ingredients & other water based hydrating skincare products. Avoid very hot, steamy and long showers – use warm water for bathing & showering. Apply moisturizer to damp skin or pamper your skin with face masks.
  4. Bio Remodelling Bio Remodelling is simply derma hacking which stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin. It involves injecting hyaluronic acid into your skin, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells.
