Mild Tremors Felt in Navi Mumbai, Panvel As Earthquake Hits City's West Coast
Tremors were felt at around 9:50 am after an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 hit the west coast of Maharashtra's Mumbai

Mild tremors were felt by residents of Panvel and Navi Mumbai in the early hours of Sunday after an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 hit the west coast of Maharashtra’s Mumbai.

The tremors were felt at around 9:50 am following an air of panic among the locals of the area.

As per a Lok Satta report, it took several hours for the government officials to take notice of the issue.

According to the information provided to the Panvel Municipal Corporation by the observatory, an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred within 15 kilometers of the sea coast near Navi Mumbai on Sunday morning . The observatory further said that no major damage was there. 

Many residents of Kamothe said that they heard a loud noise, following which many opened the window of the house and inquired whether anything happened outside. They also said that similar tremors were felt in other colonies of the area.
