Bengaluru Police have registered a case against a cab driver for allegedly sending obscene videos and photos to a woman passenger after she cancelled her ride before his arrival.
According to India Today, the woman in her complaint said that the incident occurred on Monday when she booked a cab ride for herself and her one-year-old from Bengaluru’s Electronic City.
However, the victim had to cancel the ride after the driver failed to reach the location even after waiting for 10 minutes and opted for an auto-rickshaw ride.
The cab cancellation infuriated the driver who then flooded the female passenger’s WhatsApp with explicit photos and videos. The driver then persistently called her, asking her to check her messages, India Today reported.
Meanwhile, based on the woman’s complaint, the Bengaluru Police has filed an FIR against the driver under IPC section 354A (outraging the modesty of a woman) and other relevant sections of the IT Act.
In the preliminary investigation, the police found that the driver is currently located in Tamil Nadu and a search operation has been launched.
Notably, this is not the first time that such a case has come to the fore from Bengaluru. Earlier in July, a Bengaluru woman accused a Rapido bike taxi driver of masturbating during her ride and sending inappropriate messages to her.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the woman spoke about her ordeal and alleged that the man started masturbating mid-way on the route and continued to drive with one hand despite asking to stop the ride.
In another such incident, a woman in her LinkedIn post alleged that her Uber driver in Karnataka’s Bengaluru flashed on her. The post went viral on social media and made headlines.
According to the woman’s post, she took a cab where “everything seemed normal at first.” However, the driver took a different route, and moments later started following the map after she raised concerns. When she requested an early drop-off and paid the driver money, he exposed his private parts in front of her leaving her “traumatized,” according to NDTV.
