Winters have finally reached our doorsteps. The cold airs at night and foggy roads often sum up the winters in India. Each season has its pros and cons. With the change in season, the eating habits of people also change. In summer, we love eating ice cream or kulfi, but in winter there is no match for soups and momos. In Lucknow, a shop named Daddy Chicken Soup is the go-to place for locals during winter. People have a special fondness for drinking piping hot soups from this shop during this season. Daddy Chicken Soup offers three types of soups – Paya, Tomato and Chicken. Paya Soup is one of the most sold items here. Surhjeet Singh, owner of Daddy Chicken Soup, said that he has running this business for 19 years.

Lucknow is the hub of non-veg delicacies. Amid this, Surjeet Singh believes that Lucknow lacks the taste of Punjabi flavours. Keeping this in mind, he introduced the Punjabi Taste in the streets of Lucknow by introducing these soups. While talking to Local18, he said that he uses his home-prepared spices for the soup. Along with this, he uses garam masala, Kasturi seeds, fenugreek, black pepper, butter and curry leaves to heighten the flavours of the soup. While recalling his journey, Surjeet Singh said that he used to sell the soup for Rs 20 when he started the shop. He increased five rupees every year. Today, the soup costs Rs 85. Now, the shop is famous for its Paya Soup.

None of the shops in the Alambagh area of Lucknow sells Paya soup. This helps Daddy Chicken Soup to create its customer base. People have been visiting his shop for years. One of the frequent customers of this shop said that the taste of the Paya soup here is amazing. “It keeps your body warm during winter and has a refreshing taste. Due to the inclusion of black pepper, the soups are also beneficial for health,” said the local.
