‘He Is Central to Our Project’: PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi Wants Kylian Mbappe To Stay
Amid ever-growing rumours about his transfer, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has expressed his desire to keep Mbappe, saying that the forward falls into their plans for the next few years.

Paris Saint Germain’s hierarchy seems hopeful about Kylian Mbappe serving the club for a few more seasons. The French forward was expected to shift his base during the upcoming summer transfer window upon the expiry of his current contract with PSG. Last year, even Mbappe had informed the club officials that he had no plans of extending his stay in the French capital.

Real Madrid have been in the race to sign Mbappe for a prolonged period. They attempted to secure a deal back in 2021 but PSG managed to convince Mbappe for a fresh contract, which would keep him till June this year.

Real Madrid had been looking forward to the summer window of this year when Mbappe is set to become a free agent. The La Liga giants have been in search of a striker since Karim Benzema left the club last summer to join Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool have also reportedly kept their eyes on Mbappe and could make an offer alongside Real Madrid. Earlier an ESPN report claimed that either the Bernabeu or Anfield would be the new home for Mbappe if he would choose to part ways with PSG.

Amid ever-growing rumours about his transfer, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has expressed his desire to keep Mbappe, saying that the forward falls into their plans for the next few years. During a discussion on a podcast, Khelaifi admitted that PSG “have made mistakes”. But according to him, that should not come in the way of signing a new deal with Mbappe.

“I want Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG. He’s the best player in the world and the best club for him is PSG. He is central to our project. We have done a lot of things, some have worked more than others. We have a young team, with French players, and we are not in a hurry, this is for the long term. We play as a team, we defend as a team, it is magnificent,” the PSG chief explained, as quoted by Mirror.

A former manager of the Ligue 1 champions, Luis Fernandez also wants to see Mbappre stay at PSG. According to him, Mbappe may easily be convinced after the club roped in his two “good friends”– Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele last summer.
