According to Chennai traffic police, traffic diversions will be effective between noon to 10:00 pm on match days

Chennai traffic police issued an advisory to help in decongesting the traffic on days Cricket Men’s World Cup 2023 matches are scheduled in the city. New Zealand and Bangladesh are set for a high-stakes battle at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium later today. The match will begin at 2:00 pm.

According to Chennai traffic police, traffic diversions will be effective between noon to 10:00 pm on match days.

Chennai Traffic Diversions Ahead of New Zealand-Bangladesh WC 2023 Match

  • The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) said the roads leading to MA Chidambaram Stadium will be allowed for one-way traffic on match days.
  • Victoria Hostel Road will be allowed for one-way traffic with entry from Bharathi Salai X Victoria Hostel Road Jn. No entry will be given from Wallajah Road X Victoria Hostel Road Jn, the advisory further said.
  • City buses coming from Kannagi Statue will not be allowed towards Bells Road and will be diverted at Bharathi Salai-Bells Road junction towards Ratna Cafe junction.
  • Vehicles with passes bearing alphabets ‘B’ and ‘R’ from Anna Salai onto Wallajah Road will not be allowed on Bells Road. They will be directed to park at MRTS and Pattabiraman Gate.
  • Vehicles coming from the War Memorial and the Gandhi Statue with passes bearing the alphabets ‘M’, ‘T’, and ‘V’ will only be allowed through Bharathi Salai, Canal Road. Others will be diverted to Foreshore Service Road for parking.
  • Vehicles coming from the War Memorial and the Gandhi Statue with passes bearing alphabets ‘B’ and ‘R’ will be allowed via, Bharathi Salai, Bells Road, and Wallajah Road to park at MRTS and Pattabiraman Gate. These vehicles will not be allowed at the Labour Statue towards Wallajah Road.
  • Also, for matches held at the MA Chidambaram stadium, Southern Railway will run a special passenger train between Velachery and Chintadripet on October 13, 18, 23 and 27.
