Mohammed Siraj deceived Babar with a delivery which came back in and hit the stumps to end his stay in the middle.

Mohammed Siraj produced an absolute beauty to get the better of Babar Azam in the big-ticket clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Siraj once again showcased his skills with the ball and broke a crucial 82-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan and Babar by outfoxing the latter.

It was the 30th over of the innings when Siraj deceived Babar with a delivery which came back in and hit the stumps to end his stay in the middle. Babar was looking in decent touch and scored his first half-century against India in ODIs.

It was Siraj’s second scalp of the match as earlier he trapped opener Abdullah Shafique in the 8th over.

It was the last ball of eight over when Siraj trapped Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique in front of the wicket. Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma also contributed to the wicket as it was he who had a chat with Siraj before the delivery. The pacer went for a cross-seam delivery and the ball kept a bit low and hit the pads. It was an absolute plumb in front of the wicket as Rohit and Siraj celebrated the wicket by pointing at each other.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said his team is unchanged. “We were looking to field as well. We have had good two wins. Momentum is very high and we want to continue that. Jampacked stadium, we are enjoying our opportunity, and just want to enjoy. We have to be good in the field. We have had good practice sessions.”

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill returned to India’s playing eleven after recovering from illness as captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first against arch-rivals Pakistan in the highly-anticipated 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Saturday.

Both teams, having four points, boast of twin wins in the tournament so far, which adds another layer as 1,32,000 fans will be witness to a brand new chapter being added to the India-Pakistan rivalry. In ODI World Cups, India have a 7-0 stronghold over Pakistan.
