Audi is known for creating some of the best luxury sedans, and the A4 is probably the most successful offering by the German automaker in India and now, they are ready to come out with an all-new offering. Expected to be launched by the end of this month, here's what you can expect from the new A4.
The new A4 was first displayed during 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and sported a fresh, new exterior design. The most prominent change was at the front with a larger grille, new bumper design and Audi's Matrix LED Headlamps. The rear gets new LED tail lamps and bumper design, whereas the car looked largely similar to the outgoing model from the side.
If we talk about interiors then the car seems to take inspiration from the new Q7, with a horizontal and sleek dash with an MMI panel in the centre along with a new digital instrument console. The biggest change though could be the addition of Audi's virtual cockpit, which helps in a better driving performance.
The leg room too might become better in the new A4 as the car is expected to have an increased overall length of 25 mm and a 12 mm longer wheelbase.
The changes under the hood are expected to be in the form of a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, which also powers the Volkswagen Jetta and the new Volkswagen Beetle and produces 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. There's also a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that is expected to be launched later this year, which will produce 174 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. both of these engine options are expected to come mated to an 8-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission and quattro All-Wheel Drive system.
The biggest factor affecting how the new Audi A4 performs in a price sensitive market like India though is the price, which is expected to be between Rs 35-45 lakhs.
What remains to be seen is how close the final product is to the European-spec Audi A4. Watch this space for updates.
