As the SUV segment is rapidly growing in India, manufacturers have begun investing every single ounce of blood and sweat to capture the mass market. Amid the ongoing competition, few brands always shine on the top in the luxury segment, and Mercedes-Benz is one of them that understands the game, leading it effortlessly.

The brand has multiple products in the range. However, there is one, that seriously needs special attention is 2024 GLA 220D AMG line. The tech-loaded SUV has been offered in three variants and comes under the price bracket between Rs 50.50 lakhs to 56.90 lakhs (all ex-showroom).

Lately, the company has made some major enhancements to the vehicle and tried to make it better than before. The SUV now looks more well-dressed, throwing more attitude on the road, and turns more heads on the roads. Recently, we tried our hands on this SUV and drove it for some decent kilometers. What we think about this rockstar, everything has been piled up in this detailed article.

Here we have created a list of top pointers, mentioning why it is a value-for-money product in the segment.

Design and Road Presence

If you are willing to spend lakhs on any vehicle, at least the one should deserve something eye-pleasing. When the 2024 GLE AMG line, the SUV checks all the boxes in this area.

The model is the perfect blend of elegance and class. It surely lands you some unwanted attention, all thanks to its bold style statement, head-turning road appearance, ‘Do Not Mess with Me style AMG-styled front fascia’, massive bonnet, and a diamond grille with pins in chrome.

Apart from this, three silver arrows at the front and 18-inch AMG wheels add more feathers to the SUV’s cap.

Exterior Details

The vehicle has been treated with an updated headlight setup, improved DRLs, a body-colored front apron, decent-sized cladding on the sides, and a sweet touch of chrome around the windows.

Talkin about the back, the LED treatment continues to compliment the overall profile, featuring dual exhausts, AMG lines, and reflectors below at both ends.

Despite making some noticeable cosmetic upgrades, the vehicle continues to follow AMG’s footprints, allowing the customers to have a boss-like experience when sitting inside the car.

Interior

As the efforts are quite visible from the outside, the same hard work has been done from the inside as well. The cabin now comes with the latest new-generation AMG line multi-functional steering, which offers touch controls on it.

It also gets a robust 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports all the wireless car connect technology including Android, Apple, and Auto CarpPlay.

A carbon-structure element on the dashboard, turbine-like vents, ambient lighting, re-designed center console with additional storage space for cards and keys are some of the elements that add further charm to the vehicle.

Engine

Under the hood, the SUV uses a trusted 2.0-litre Diesel Engine, which generates a maximum power of 193 bhp at 3800 rpm and 400 Nm torque at 1600-2600 rpm. The unit is mated with an Automatic (DCT) transmission.

Now, the most important question is ‘kitna deti hai’. It has been claimed by the brand that the four-wheeler is capable of providing a decent 18.9 kmpl. However, the overall fuel efficiency also depends on how you drive.

Features

This is the area that we feel the brand can be proud of as the SUV comes with some impressive robust features. It has been given keyless access, voice assist, in-built navigation, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, electric-adjustable front seats, gesture control tailgate, and the list never ends.

When it comes to safety, it seems like an extra team has been hired for the work. The SUV is equipped with seven airbags, an active braking function, TPMS, a 360-degree, blind spot monitoring system, a 360-degree camera with dynamic guidelines, and a self-park function.

It is worth mentioning that the whole car can be controlled through the smartphone, using the Mercedes Me application. Customers can lock/unlock the car, control the ignition, windows, AC, and even check the vehicle’s current location with just a tap one tap on the screen.

The application also offers a digital key handover feature. Wondering how it works? For example, you are planning to go outside the city and all of a sudden one of your friends want to borrow your car. However, they are not nearby to get the keys, and you do not feel confident enough to hand over them to any third person. Here’s how this feature resolves the issue.

  • Place the key inside the glove box, step out of the vehicle, and close the car using the Mercedes-Me Application.
  • Go to the digital key handover option in the app and deactivate the key.
  • Share the location of the parked vehicle with a friend.
  • Once they arrive, unlock the car and activate the key using the same application.
