Bengaluru Metro’s Pink Line is set to link Kalena Agrahara (Gottigere) on Bannerghatta Road with Nagawara on Outer Ring Road in two phases, reports Moneycontrol.
Phase 1 by September 2025:
- Elevated Section: The 7.5 km stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere (Swagath Cross) will be ready by September 2025, according to a senior official from Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
Phase 2 by June 2026:
- Underground Section: The 13.8 km stretch from Dairy Circle to Nagawara will be operational by June 2026.
New Coaches for the Metro:
In August 2023, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) received an order worth Rs 3,177 crore to supply 318 coaches for Bengaluru Metro’s various phases, including 96 for the Pink Line. These trains are expected to arrive between June 2025 and December 2026.
The entire tunneling work will be completed by October 2024, with 96.7 percent already done. Despite the challenges, BMRCL is optimistic about meeting the deadlines. A new milestone was reached in July 2024, with 308 meters of tunneling done by TBM Tunga between KG Halli and Nagawara.
Remaining Work
- TBM Tunneling: 693 meters of tunneling is still pending, including 163 meters for TBM Tunga and 530 meters for TBM Bhadra.
- Station and Track Work: Progress is ongoing, with signalling, telecom, and other essential systems to follow.
Pink Line Stations
The Pink Line will feature 18 stations, including Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, Tavarekere, Dairy Circle, and more. It will connect with the Blue Line at Nagawara, the Yellow Line at Jayadeva Interchange, and the Orange Line at JP Nagar 4th Phase.
Other Metro Corridor Updates
- Green Line Extension (Nagasandra – Madavara): Trial runs start mid-August with commercial operations expected by October.
- Yellow Line (RV Road – Bommasandra): Set to connect Electronics City by December 2024.
