Gogoro, a Taiwan-based battery swapping company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading oil firm Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) in India. The partnership will allow the company to set up multiple battery-swapping stations for electric two-wheelers across the country.
Gogoro Collaborated with HPCL
It has been reported that the HPCL, which has more than 21,000 government-controlled retail outlets, will be involved with Gogoro in setting up the swapping stations at its oil stations nationwide. To capture the whole network of HPCL in India, Gogoro has created the whole roadmap, which is expected to be achieved in upcoming years.

Sharing the view about the partnership with the top oil brand in India, founder and CEO of Gogoro, Horace Luke said “India is in the early stages of a massive electric transformation of its urban two-wheel transportation system, and it is increasingly evident that battery swapping is a critical component to broad adoption, so building out the swapping infrastructure is crucial. Today, we are announcing a partnership with HPCL, one of India’s leading oil companies, to roll out thousands of Gogoro battery swapping stations across its retail outlets throughout the country in the coming years.“
In addition, Luke said, “There is nowhere on earth that needs smart electric transportation more than India, and Gogoro is joining together with the Indian business community and national and local governments to deploy a battery swapping and electric vehicle ecosystem that is open, accessible and scalable.”
Gogoro Battery Swapping Outlet
For those who are not aware, Gogoro has been pushing the EV segment by providing battery-swapping technology in India. Earlier in April, this year, the company successfully introduced a total of four battery-swapping stations at in Delhi-NCR.
