The Western Railway tops the chart with 1,878 trips, closely followed by the North Western Railway with 1,623 trips.

Indian Railways is all set to ramp up its train services this summer, aiming to cater to the soaring demand for travel across the country.

The Railway Ministry revealed plans to increase train services by a whopping 43 percent compared to last year.

In a recent announcement, the Railway Ministry stated, “To make travel convenient for passengers and accommodate the expected surge in summer travel, Indian Railways will be operating a record-breaking 9,111 train trips during this summer season,” as reported by The Financial Express.

This surge in train services marks a significant jump from the 6,369 trips offered during the summer of 2023, showcasing Indian Railways’ dedication to meeting passengers’ needs effectively.

The additional train services have been strategically planned to connect key destinations nationwide, ensuring seamless travel along major railway routes. Among the 9,111 train trips, the Western Railway will lead with 1,878 trips, closely followed by the North Western Railway with 1,623 trips. Significant contributions will also come from the South Central Railway (1,012 trips) and the East Central Railway (1,003 trips).

“All zonal railways across India are prepared to operate these additional trips, catering to the summer travel rush from various states,” stated the Railway Ministry, listing states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, and others.

Indian Railways adjusts its services based on passenger demands, gathering inputs from various channels, including media reports, social media platforms, and the Railway Integrated helpline number 139. Details of waitlisted passengers in the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) are also analyzed to assess demand on specific routes.

The ministry emphasized that the planning and running of additional trains are ongoing processes, continuously adjusted to meet evolving passenger needs.

In addition to increasing train services, the ministry has instructed Zonal Railways to ensure the availability of drinking water at railway stations during the summer season. Elaborate crowd control measures have been put in place at major stations, with senior officers monitoring activities to regulate crowds efficiently.

To prevent overcrowding and stampede-like situations during peak periods, the ministry has deployed Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at foot-over bridges.

Indian Railways remains committed to providing a convenient and comfortable travel experience for all passengers. Travelers can book tickets for these additional trains through railway ticket counters or the IRCTC website/app.
