Ola Electric Secures Top Place in EV Patents in India, TVS Stood at Second
The third place has been taken by Suzuki with 78 published patents. Honda stood at fourth position with 77, while BYD managed to file only 58 patents.

As the EV culture is at its peak right in India, Ola Electric, which is considered as leading electric two-wheeler maker in India, has emerged as a top patent publisher in 2022-23.

As per the details shared by Intellectual Property India, the brand has published over 205 patent designs, leaving all the rivals behind in the race. The sector is also topped by the  TVS with 156 published patents, while the third place has been taken by Suzuki with 78 published patents. Honda stood in fourth position with 77, while BYD managed to file only 58 patents.

Pending Patent Outside India

Amid this, the top contributor Ola also applied for patents outside the country, majorly in the UK, the US, China, Australia, and Japan. However, there are 37 patent applications, which are yet to be cleared by concerned authorities.

New Shares in IPO

It has been informed that Ola is gearing up to raise Rs 5,500 crore fund by providing new shares in its IPO. Out of all, a big chunk of Rs 1,600 crore from the fund will be invested in research and development (R&D) as the company calls it the most important in the business model.

Core Goal

Meanwhile, the brand is dedicated to creating more designs, core products, and essential components at its R&D locations in India, the US, and the UK. The main focus will remain on EV-related software, battery technology, motors, transmissions, controllers, safety, and security in vehicles.
