Volkwagen Plans to Launch More Than 30 Electric Models by 2025
VW says these models will account for annual sales of 2-3 million vehicles or 20-25 percent of the group's global sales.

Volkswagen has said that it plans to launch more than 30 all-electric models by 2025 as the scandal-hit auto giant tries to reposition itself as a leading player in environmentally sustainable modes of transport.

The German automaker is currently entangled in a global engine-rigging scandal, wherein the company's image got tarnished due to fitting of 'cheat devices' which identified that the car was going through pollution emission test and decreased the level of pollutants that were being emitted from the car. Once back on the road, the car would pollute way more than the allowed amount of pollutants.

Volkswagen said in a statement that it plans to launch "more than 30 fully electric models" by 2025, which would account for annual sales of between two and three million vehicles or 20-25 percent of the group's global sales.
