Kannada actress Pooja Gandhi tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend and businessman Vijay Ghorpade on Wednesday, November 29. As shared by the actress herself, the wedding ceremony was a low-key affair with just family and close friends. The ceremony happened in the distinct model of marriage called Mantra Mangalaya. The pictures from the wedding have now surfaced on the internet. Pooja Gandhi got married at Arambam Hall in Bengaluru.
Pooja, for the day, picked an ivory organza saree with white embroidery thread work all over that she paired with a matching blouse that has elbow-length sleeves. She also added a matching veil to complete her look. Pooja Gandhi kept her jewellery to a minimum by adding a pair of golden statement earrings and a maang tika. To add a little red to her outfit, Pooja added a set of red bangles. Her husband donned a white sherwani with golden thread work over it.
For those who are unaware of Mantra Mangalaya, this model of marriage was proposed by Rashtrakavi and Jnanpith Award recipient, Kuvempu. The concept of Mantra Mangalaya is that it doesn’t allow dowry or any such practices and most importantly recognises marriage across all religions and castes. The model also has no space for horoscopes, priests and other such rituals. Few members of the family, friends and well-wishers officiate the wedding ceremony.
In her handwritten note before her big day, Pooja requested the media not to bring cameras to the ceremony and said she herself would provide the photos and video after the event.
Pooja Gandhi made her debut in the Kannada cinema with Mungaru Male. She also made her Hindi Debut in 2001 alongside Raj Babbar in the film, Khatron Ke Khiladi. She has been credited with over 50 films in a decade in over five languages. She also bagged a position in the 25 Most Desirable Women in 2012.
In January 2012, Pooja Gandhi ventured into politics and joined the Janta Dal (Secular).
