Salman Khan is affectionately called Bhaijaan for a reason – he is known for acts of welfare and humanitarian activities. His generosity extends to helping fellow celebrities as well. Recently, Salman met Jaganbir, a resilient individual who – at the age of 4 in 2018 – triumphed over cancer after undergoing nine sessions of chemotherapy. Now 9 years old, Jaganbir’s victory is a testament to Salman’s impact beyond the film industry. In 2018, Salman Khan first encountered Jaganbir at Tata Memorial Center in Mumbai, where the 4-year-old was undergoing chemotherapy for his tumour. Struggling with the side effects, Jaganbir had lost his eyesight due to the treatment. It was during this challenging period that Salman met him, leaving a lasting impression as Jaganbir felt Salman’s presence through touch, recognising him by the feel of his face and the bracelet in his hand.
Salman Khan had made a heartfelt promise to meet Jaganbir after his battle with cancer is over, encouraging him to fight like a true warrior. Jaganbir triumphed over cancer last year; true to Salman’s commitment, they finally met in December 2023 at Salman’s Bandra residence, fulfilling the promise made during the challenging times of Jaganbir’s treatment.
In an interview with Indian Express, Jaganbir’s mother, Sukhbir Kaur, revealed that at the age of 3, Jaganbir lost his eyesight due to a coin-sized tumour in his brain. Faced with the challenging situation, doctors recommended seeking treatment in Delhi or Mumbai. Troubled by Jagan’s condition, Pushpinder, Jagan’s father, decided to take him to Mumbai. In his innocence, Jagan believed he was going to meet Salman Khan during this journey.
Sukhbir Kaur shared that after witnessing Jagan’s excitement, she chose not to disclose the truth. After Jaganbir was admitted to the hospital, a video expressing his wish to meet Salman was made. The video reached Salman, who graciously fulfilled the promise by visiting Jaganbir. Overwhelmed, Jagan verified Salman’s presence by touching his face and bracelet. Sukhbir happily reported that her son is now doing well, having regained 99 percent of his eyesight, and he attends school regularly.
