Ayodhya is seeing a surge in investments in the hotel sector, driven by the immense potential for religious tourism as the Ram temple is scheduled for inauguration on Monday. Investors have signed multiple agreements to support major hotel projects, with renowned hotel companies making their mark in the city. Presently, around 50 significant hotel construction projects are underway in Ayodhya, manifesting its position as an emerging hub in the hotel industry.
Gaurav Dayal, the Divisional Commissioner of Ayodhya, shared that 102 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the Global Investors Summit (GIS), totalling around Rs 18,000 crore for tourism in Ayodhya. Post-GIS, numerous entrepreneurs have submitted proposals to the government and district administration, expressing keen interest in investing in Ayodhya’s tourism sector.
Ayodhya is on the verge of finishing 126 tourism projects including 46 with agreed terms and 80 without any formal agreements. The combined cost for these initiatives is around Rs 4,000 crore. Notably, nearly 50 well-known hotel companies like Taj, Marriott, Ginger, Oberoi, Trident and Radisson are actively involved in significant projects in Ayodhya. The construction work for these developments is expected to be completed soon.
Spanning an expansive 71 acres, the grand temple complex comprises six parts, including the sanctum sanctorum and five pavilions- Gun Mandap, Rang Mandap, Nritya Mandap, Kirtan Mandap, and Prarthana Mandap. The temple stands at a height of 161 feet and features three floors, each measuring 19.5 feet.
Plans are underway to transform Raja’s Building into a heritage hotel, with a notable hotel chain expressing interest in the investment for this project. Approximately Rs 420 crore is anticipated to be invested in four significant hotel industry projects in Ayodhya. Topping the list is Panche Dreamworld LLP, earmarking a total cost of Rs 140 crore for the O Rama Hotels and Resorts project.
Two weeks before January 22, the accommodation search for Ayodhya on booking.com started with an alert: 77% of places to stay on your selected dates are currently unavailable. The platform lists various accommodation options, including 20 hotels, 12 apartments, 12 entire homes & apartments, 7 homestays and 6 guest houses. Numerous accommodations have notably raised their tariffs, with some going as high as 200 times the regular fare.
