Delhi hotels choc-a-bloc till March
This winter if you happen to be flying via Delhi and your flight gets cancelled then get ready to be stranded without a roof.

New Delhi: This winter if you happen to be flying via Delhi, and your flight gets delayed or cancelled, you are most likely to find yourself stranded at the airport.

Hotels in Delhi are fully booked till March 2006 and airlines may not be able to find you a hotel room in the capital.

"Hotels are charging exorbitant rates from the airlines and so they will not be able to provide accommodation to the passengers," Sanjay Narula, Apex Travels and Tours, said.

As international travel to India has increased by a quarter per cent compared to 2003, air capacity has kept pace with a 30 per cent rise.

India is not considered a seasonal vacation destination anymore, with the increase in business and corporate travel, hotels are seeing 85 to 95 per cent occupancy rates throughout the year.

"The concept of peak season has changed and there is no specific time for business travelers coming to India," Manfred Kyler, GM, The Grand, said.

Boom in the business of hotels in Delhi has also sparked off a massive hike in the prices too by 30 to 35 per cent across different category of hotel.

And with the wedding and festive season on, finding a hotel room will not only be an expensive endeavour but a dificult one too.

What's your reaction?
