The Forbes Billionaires List 2024, earlier this week, revealed 25 youngest billionaires globally under the age of 33 years having a collective wealth of $110 billion. The wealth was mostly inherited rather than self-made. Among the youngest billionaires under the age of 30 were Cyrus Mistry’s sons Zahan and Firoz.
Zahan Mistry and Firoz Mistry have a combined wealth of $9.8 billion, with each holding $4.9 billion, mostly inherited from their father Cyrus Mistry who had died in 2022 in a car accident.
Who Is Zahan Mistry?
Zahan Mistry, 25, is the son of the late Cyrus Mistry, the former chairman of Tata Sons. He inherited part of his family’s 18.4 per cent stake in Tata Sons after his father died in a car crash in 2022.
He completed his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the Westminster University (U.K.).
Zahan holds a 25% stake in the Mumbai-based construction giant, Shapoorji Pallonji Group. His uncle Shapoor Mistry is chairman of this Group.
Zahan Mistry holds citizenship in Ireland and currently lives in Mumbai.
Who Is Firoz Mistry?
Firoz Mistry, 27, is the eldest son of the late Cyrus Mistry.
Firoz also holds Ireland citizenship, while he is currently residing in Mumbai.
He also inherited part of his family’s 18.4 per cent stake in Tata Sons after his father died in a car crash in 2022.
He holds a 25 per cent stake in Shapoorji Pallonji Group. His uncle Shapoor Mistry is chairman of this Group.
Firoz is involved in fundraising plans through listing Afcons Infrastructure, a privately held construction and engineering firm.
Firoz completed his Bachelor’s in Neuroscience, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut (US).
The Forbes Billionaires List 2024
India added 25 new billionaires this year, increasing the total number of billionaires in the country to 200 as compared to 169 last year, according to the latest ‘Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2024′. The combined wealth of these Indians stands at $954 billion, which is 41 per cent higher as compared with $675 billion last year.
Among Indians, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) CMD Mukesh Ambani topped the billionaires’ list with a total networth of $116 billion, followed by Gautam Adani ($84 billion), Shiv Nadar ($36.9 billion), Savitri Jindal & Family ($33.5 billion), and Dilip Shanghvi ($26.7 billion).
Mukesh Ambani is the only Indian in the top-10 list, at 9th rank globally.
Currently, there are more billionaires than ever — 2,781 in all, 141 more than last year and 26 more than the record set in 2021. They are richer than ever, worth $14.2 trillion in aggregate, up by $2 trillion from 2023 and $1.1 trillion above the previous record, also set in 2021, according to the ‘Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2024: The Top 200′.
“India, which has 200 billionaires (also a record), ranks third,” it said.
