Hard work, patience, and resilience are the building blocks of success. Sometimes, the background or the economic conditions do not matter. What matters is the effort that a person puts in to achieve success. A similar situation is that of Virendra Kumar Yadav, who belonged to an extremely poor family in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, and has now become an assistant professor of English at North Eastern Hill University at the central university of Meghalaya. She was able to do it because of his hard work and charisma.

Virendra Kumar Yadav was born in Thakurmanpur village in Mau district, UP. He was born into a poor farmer family, but he had always wanted to do something big in his life. Initially, his family didn’t have enough money. As a result, Virendra received his primary education from the village primary school. As he had been intelligent in his studies since childhood, he decided to devote his entire life to the English subject. He had heard that English was the most difficult subject, so he took this as a challenge and decided to spend a lot of time studying it.

After he completed his secondary education at KL Nomani School, Mau, he took higher secondary education at Talimuddin College in the same district. After that, he decided he wanted to study further, took inspiration from the people of his village, and decided to go to BHU for his postgraduate studies there. After completing his MA degree from BHU, he qualified for JRF and NET and started doing his PhD there in 2021 under the guidance of Professor Anita Singh.

Talking about his personal life, marriage has always been considered mandatory in his family. As a result, he even decided to get married. After his marriage, he continued with his passion for English, and after overcoming all obstacles, he got selected for the Central University of Meghalaya.

Recalling the days of struggle, in an interview, Virendra said, “It was difficult to manage the money, but my father did not lose courage and taught all of us brothers and sisters. All the credit for my success goes to my father. To my mother and younger brother, who helped me in every way. Whatever I am today is because of my family and their sacrifice.”
