Mumbai: The markets have given up its early gains and are trading lacklusture. Barring IT index all the key BSE indices are trading in red led by banking, realty and capital goods. The broader markets have nosedived in the red. Market breadth has turned unhealthy in the favour of declines.
At 1215 hrs, IST, the Sensex was down 61.78 points or 0.35% at 17586.93, and the Nifty up 2.15 points or 0.04% at 5139.60. About 788 shares have advanced, 2157 shares declined, and 60 shares are unchanged.
Top gainers on the Sensex are Satyam at Rs 409.10 up 5.11%,TCS at Rs 916 up 4.66% and Tata Motors at Rs 731.05 up 3.53%.
Top losers on the Sensex are HDFC Bank at Rs 1,505 down 4.02%, ACC at Rs 752.90 down 3.8% and Grasim at Rs 2,860 down 3.01%.
On the primary market front, Future Capital after touching Rs 1000 is trading around Rs 865, versus issue price of 765.
Future Capital, Reliance Energy, Reliance Capital and Reliance are some of the very active counhters today.
Mkts reverse morning gains: Realty, power, cap goods down
It is getting rough for the markets as both the frontline indices have slipped in red. Realty, power, capital good stocks are under pressure. The broader markets have nosedived in the red. Market breadth has turned unhealthy in the favour of declines.
The cues from global peers were mixed. Wall Street ended higher with Dow gaining 207 points. Sensex was above 17,800 levels and Nifty is approaching 5,200 levels.
At 1150 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 52.36 points or 0.30% at 17701.07, and the Nifty up 3.05 points or 0.06% at 5140.50. About 864 shares have advanced, 2068 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged.
Among the top laggards were ACC, Reliance Energy, Ambuja Cements, Reliance Communication, Nalco and Unitech followed by Wipro, HUL, Maruti.
Among the top gainers were Sterlite, GSK, Hindalco, Satyam, NTPC, Infosys, L&T, Tata Motors, GAIL.
On the primary market front, Future Capital after touching Rs 1000 is trading around Rs 865, versus issue price of 765.
