A special performance by singing sensation Rihanna, Cirque De Soleil, visit to Vantara and a magical drone show — Day 1 of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities in Gujarat’s Jamnagar promise this and much more for the VVIPs who have gathered from all over the world to participate in the three-day extravaganza.
According to the schedule, Day 1 began with a celebratory welcome brunch for the guests from 11am at their hotel. The festivities begin from 5.30pm and are titled ‘An Evening in Everland’ at the conservatory for which the dress code will be elegant cocktail.
This will be followed by welcome speeches by the family before the performances kick in. The first act will be the Cirque De Soleil and the schedule invites the guests to “be mesmerised by a spectacle of extraordinary performances”.
The guests will then “marvel at the beauty of the animal kingdom” during the Vantara Show and then “watch the sky come alive with a never-seen-before dazzling display” of drones.
The highlight of the evening will be special performance by Rihanna — the first-ever in India — that will have guests grooving to her popular tracks. The festivities will culminate with a dinner and after party, touted as the “perfect end to a magical evening”.
Day 2 will host A Walk on the Wildside with “jungle fever” as the suggested dress code. It is set to be held outdoors in the Ambanis’ animal rescue centre in Jamnagar, and guests are advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing for this event.
Invitees will then swap their safari-themed outfits for more elegant ones for Mela Rouge. The dress code for this is “dazzling desi romance”, suggesting glamorous traditional South Asian attires for all.
The final day will also comprise two events. The first one, Tusker Trails, suggests “casual chic” dressing, as guests are expected to further explore the green ambience of Jamnagar. The final party, Hashtakshar, calls for an elegant evening with heritage Indianwear.
Convoys of luxury cars lined up at the Jamnagar airport for the second consecutive day on Friday as eminent personalities and celebrities from around the world arrived to attend the three-day pre-wedding festivities.
Anant Ambani, the youngest of the three children of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, is set to, later this year, marry Radhika Merchant, the younger daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare, and entrepreneur Shaila Merchant.
