Sensex opens weak, Asian stocks slide
At 0956 hrs (IST), Sensex got 19.72 weaker at 13,851.99 points and Nifty was six points lower at 3,982.

New Delhi: After succumbing to profit booking during Thursday’s trade, the benchmark index Sensex slided by nearly 20 points in early trade on Friday on the Bombay Stock Exchange in tandem with Asian peers.

At 0956 hrs (IST), Sensex got 19.72 weaker at 13,851.99 points and Nifty was six points lower at 3,982.

The weak spots in opening trade were Larsen and Toubro, MTNL, ONGC, NTPC and BHEL. The gainers were ICICI Bank, Hindalco, ITC, Satyam, Wipro, ACC, Tata Power, Tech Mahindra, VSNL. However, Rel Comm, Bharti Airtel, BHEL, Suzlon succumbed to profit booking in opening trade.

Pyramid & Tanla Solutions also got listed on the bourses at Rs 135 and Rs 379 respectively.

Asian stocks were lower today, Japan's Nikkei plunged 1.85% or 321.32 points at 17,032.35, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 0.80% or 159.43 points at 19,866.15, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted tumbled 1.41% or 112.16 points at 7,822.35, Singapore's Straits Times fell 0.46% or 13.97 points at 3,009.83 and South Korea's Seoul Composite was down 1.38% or 19.28 points at 1,378.01.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 6.17 points, or 0.05%, to 12,480.69 on Thursday.
