New Delhi: After winning the best new airline of the year award at the Asia Pacific and the Middle east in Malaysia, Kingfisher Airlines is in news again.
The market is abuzz with talks of Vijay Mallya bidding for its rival Air Sahara, but the liquor baron refutes saying the airline is highly overvalued.
Mallya values the country?s third-largest domestic airline Sahara Airlines Ltd at 53 per cent less than the floor price recommended by an adviser.
Chairman, Kingfisher Airlines says, " I am willing to consider any form of deal or transaction structure at the value that makes sense to us and hopefully that makes sense to them."
While Sahara mulls over the offers its getting, Mallya is spreading Kingfisher's wings.
Kingfisher's market share in the past six monts was pegged at over 6 per cent, which means nearly one per cent added every month.
Mallya sees this growth continuing and says the company's liquor and airline business are functioning in perfect synchronisation.
"We are a large national company and realise where the pockets of wealth reside. We are aware of the ethnic issues and oppurtunities," says Mallya.
After connecting the metros, Kingfisher is making headway to connect secondary airports such as Jaipur and Ahmedabad directly to Kolkata. Ahmedabad is to get a direct flight to Goa.
Meanwhile, Kingfisher is waiting for its 68 seater ATR aircraft.
