The movie is reported to be a periodic action drama.

The news of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam reuniting for the film Thug Life has created a buzz in the entertainment industry, marking their collaboration after 35 years since the iconic Nayakan in 1987. The much-anticipated project is set to commence its main filming phase on January 22 in Chennai, igniting excitement among fans and the film fraternity.

Thug Life is described as a periodic action drama, with Kamal Haasan portraying the character of Rangaraya Sakthivel Naicker. The title teaser has already provided a glimpse of Haasan’s role, intensifying anticipation for what promises to be a captivating storyline. The film’s ensemble cast includes Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Dulquer Salman, Abhirami, and Nassar, each expected to play significant roles in the narrative.

There are also speculations about Joju George, Gautham Karthik, and Aishwarya Lekshmi joining the project, adding to the intrigue surrounding this highly awaited collaboration. AR Rahman, renowned for his exceptional musical compositions, is set to score the music for Thug Life, while Ravi K. Chandran will handle the cinematography.

Amidst the anticipation, Mani Ratnam was questioned about the delay in reuniting with the legendary actor. In response, he stated, “I can’t say what took me so long. It is tough when you have an actor with that capability who has done several things. So unless you have some solid things, do not go to him just because you have done it before. Hopefully, we will be able to bring some kind of character back on screen.”

Jointly produced by Raajkamal Films International, Madras Talkies, Red Giant Movies, R Mahendran, and Siva Ananth, Thug Life marks Kamal Haasan’s 234th film, and the shooting commencement further heightens the anticipation surrounding this landmark collaboration.

The project reunites two stalwarts of Indian cinema, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, promising a cinematic experience that fans have been eagerly waiting for since the official announcement in November of the previous year.
