'11 World Cup Matches Mai Contender Tha...': Yuvraj Singh Presents Best Fielder Medal to 'Gamechanger' Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj seemed quite happy at finally landing the best fielder medal for his superb on-field show against USA.

India have qualified for the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 with a third straight win in a row as they got the better of co-hosts USA in New York on Wednesday. Chasing 111-run target, Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten half-century to take India over the line at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium.

The Indian team has brought back the much-celebrated best fielder medal award for the competition. And to announce the latest winner, the Indian players were joined by the legendary Yuvraj Singh in the dressing room.

No points for guessing that it was fast bowler Mohammed Siraj who won the medal. He completed a couple of vital catches including an excellent overhead catch of Nitish Kuma and was involved in the run out of Jasdeep Singh.

Yuvraj was greeted with a loud cheer by the Indian cricketers and fielding coach T Dilip also thanked the World Cup-winning allrounder for his presence.

While presenting the best fielder’s medal to Siraj, Yuvraj labelled the Indian pacer as the “game changer.”

“It’s an amazing feeling. Last 50-over World Cup me, 11 matches mai pura contender raha, ek bhi medal nahi mila tha but hard work kabhi khali nahi jata, hamesha pay off hota hai (I was contender for the best fielder’s medal in 11 matches throughout the last year’s ODI World Cup. But hard work never goes in vain, it always pays off),” Siraj said in the video shared by BCCI on social media.

Yuvraj also congratulated Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh for winning Player of the Match award.

Arshdeep had a fabulous outing against the USA as he scalped four wickets conceding just nine runs in his four overs.

Yuvraj also heaped praises on Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav for producing vital knocks during the run chase on a tricky surface.

Siraj also had an impressive spell against the USA as he conceded 25 runs in four overs.

Batting first, the USA managed to reach 111 in 20 overs. India scored the winning runs with 10 balls to spare. Along with Surykumar, Dube contributed significantly with an unbeaten knock of 31 off 35 balls.
