As the T20 World Cup 2024 comes down to the final two, Cricket Australia has made some interesting picks as part of their team of the tournament with neither Rohit Sharma nor Aiden Markram selected as their skipper.
Their 11 includes three members from India, two from Afghanistan and Australia and one member from the West Indies, USA, Bangladesh and South Africa respectively.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma who scored 248 runs in the tournament was picked to open the batting with his Australian counterpart Travis Head who is at 255 runs for the tournament. Rohit despite starting slow, has kicked his game up a notch with some fine knocks coming against the likes of Australia and England to take them to the semis as the third-highest run-scorer. Head on the other hand was able to chip in with some contributions in the group stage but certainly dialed up his batting with some fine knocks against Scotland and India.
At number three is the six-hitting southpaw from the Caribbean, Nicholas Pooran who scored 228 runs has been a fairly consistent performer who let loose against Afghanistan with a blistering 98 in Saint Lucia.
A surprise inclusion was the USA’s stand-in skipper Aaron Jones who lit the tournament up in the opening game against Canada with a match-winning knock of 94 to give the USA their first win of the tournament. But he has not been able to continue that string of performances with his only significant contribution coming against Pakistan where he scored an unbeaten 36.
The all-rounders that have been picked certainly make sense with the trio of Marcus Stoinis, Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan. The Aussie who is usually known more for his batting has been a revelation in the Caribbean conditions with the ball and has been a regular wicket-taker. For Hardik Pandya, there were concerns about whether he had found his form after a disastrous IPL 2024 campaign, but that was certainly not the case. He started off performing with the ball in the group stages and began contributing with the bat in the knockouts to become the pick of the all-rounders.

Rashid Khan has certainly taken his game to a new level as he led Afghanistan to their first-ever semi-final appearance. Surprisingly he has also been named as the captain.
Rishad Hossain has certainly been a revelation for Bangladesh with 14 wickets in the tournament so far and could be a revelation coming into the future.
To form the pacer trip it is none other than Jasprit Bumrah along with his South African counterpart in Anrich Nortje and the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi.
Cricket Australia’s Best XI for T20 WC 2024: Travis Head, Rohit Sharma, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Aaron Jones, Marcus Stoinis, Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan (c), Rishad Hossain, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Jasprit Bumrah, Anrich Nortje
