Chuffed with the response he received from his ex-teammates, Dinesh could not help but be humble when looking back at the many personalities that have handed down the fielding medal.
DK went ahead and praised the team for the fine performances they had put together to take them one step away from the summit. He also praised Rohit for his leadership on the side.
Ahead of announcing the winner, DK said, “There are many stories in the sport but none better than the person I’m going to give this medal to. What he went through a year ago, I don’t think, six months ago we expected him to be in this team, not many would have expected him to play this sport so early but for him, to come out and play the way he did in the IPL, he made millions happy”.
Rishabh Pant was announced as the winner of the fielding medal for his performances against England. His presence of mind and awareness from behind the stumps was on full display when he went back to take the catch to dismiss Jos Buttler and his stumping from way outside the leg-side to get rid of Moeen Ali certainly helped India get the start with the ball.
