England was on the back foot after their top order was sent packing on Day 4 of the second Test against India in Visakhapatnam. The onus was once again on the England skipper Ben Stokes who had a lot of time to get going in the chase of 399 runs in the second innings.
But a fantastic throw from Shreyas Iyer, who managed to get the direct hit, turned the tides of the match with the England skipper run-out as the batter was punished for taking the single casually.
Iyer had run in from mid-wicket to put in the throw to the keeper’s end and got the big wicket of Ben Stokes who could have helped chase down the total single-handedly.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Ben Stokes himself was puzzled at how the dismissal went about. He said, “I was trying to describe it in the dressing room…it was like one of those dreams where you’re trying to run faster but you can’t.”
The skipper was well aware that he had to get back in the crease quickly but for some reason, he was not able to do that. Stokes added, “I knew I had to go faster but for some reason, I just couldn’t, it was a bizarre couple of seconds.”
Even Stokes was critical of himself on the sloppy dismissal where he said,” You’d think by now at 32 I’d learn not to do that, it’s not the first time I’ve been run out doing something stupid. I always seem to do something that’s a talking point, good or bad, don’t I?”

The dismissal of the English skipper was a big turning point among many others as India went on to clean up the rest of the England batters despite a brief moment of resistance by Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley who looked to play aggressively and score some boundaries.
But India’s lead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah managed to come up with the wickets to conclude the game as the hosts managed to level the series 1-1 with the third game being held in Rajkot on February 15.
