The five-match Test series between India and England is underway and the continual snub of a certain first-class performer has again become a red-hot topic of discussion.
Sarfaraz Khan has been one of the top performers in red-ball cricket in Indian domestic circuit and his stellar record speaks for itself. However, he continues to be on the fringes.

The latest snub came after a spot opened up in the India Test squad for the ongoing series against England with Virat Kohli withdrawing from the first two matches. There were speculations that either of Cheteshwar Pujara or Ajinkya Rahane could be recalled or a younger player like Sarfaraz could be handed a maiden call-up.
The Indian team management instead chose to include Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar as Kohli’s replacement for the first two Tests.
Patidar was rewarded for hitting back-to-back centuries for India A against England Lions in a practice game followed by the first Unofficial Test in Ahmedabad.
Former India allrounder Irfan Pathan has questioned the non-selection of Sarfaraz, who has scored 3751 runs from 44 first-class at an average of 68.20.
If you are him and not getting selected for test cricket, what are you thinking??? pic.twitter.com/uVzUfvNPTx— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) January 24, 2024
“If you are him and not getting selected for test cricket, what are you thinking???” Pathan wrote while sharing the 26-year-old’s stats in FC cricket.
Sarfaraz is currently part of the India A squad that is taking on England Lions.
He scored a century on the second day of the ongoing unofficial Test in Ahmedabad with the hosts making a strong reply after bowling out England Lions for 152. The first match of the series ended in a draw.
Patidar recently made his international debut in an ODI against South Africa in Paarl, where he scored 22 opening the innings.
The BCCI has meanwhile announced that fast bowler Avesh Khan has been released from India test squad to represent Madhya Pradesh, in their next Ranji Trophy fixture.
