Ishan Kishan Shares Training Video Amidst Speculation Over Absence from India Squads
Ishan Kishan posted on his social media where he is back in training ahead of India's squad announcement for the two Tests against England.

Ishan Kishan broke his silence with a video where before the squads were announced for the two Tests against England coming up at home later this month.

Despite being in the squad for the white-ball leg of India’s tour of South Africa, the wicket-keeper batter did not feature in a single game and requested a break ahead of the two Tests against the Proteas as well citing personal reasons.

Ahead of the first T20I against Afghanistan, India head coach Rahul Dravid cleared the air on the rumours regarding any disciplinary issues, he said,” Absolutely not. Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan had requested for a break in South Africa which we agreed to, and supported that.”

Ishan Kishan was last featured on the Indian side when they took on Australia in the five-match T20I series at home. Despite only featuring in the first three games, he managed to put in a decent contribution where he scored consecutive half-centuries in the first two T20Is.

His last Test came against the West Indies at Port of Spain in July and featured in the World Cup as well with his last game against Afghanistan in Delhi.

India’s cricket fanbase could be growing concerned regarding the unavailability of Kishan who has been a regular feature in the squads ever since Rishabh Pant’s long absence.

KL Rahul has also emerged as an option as a wicket-keeper batter with him scoring a valiant century in the first Test against South Africa as well. He also had a decent showing in the World Cup as well having scored 452 runs in 11 games.

With the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal gunning for a spot at the top of the batting order, while the senior stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma featuring in the T20I games ahead of the World Cup and Jitesh Sharma’s rising stock in the shortest format, Ishan Kishan’s role in the team still remains uncertain.

India will take on Afghanistan in the second T20I taking place at Indore where the hosts will look to seal the series and try out different combinations ahead of the T20 World Cup.
