Mumbai’s young batting star, Musheer Khan issued his first statement on Sunday, since surviving a car accident while en route to join his state team for the upcoming Irani Cup 2024.
As a result of the accident, the youngster suffered a neck fracture during the accident while on his way to Lucknow from his hometown in Azamgarh for the Irani Cup fixture which is set to begin on October 1 against the Rest of India squad.
Musheer who was seen wearing a neck brace, was also accompanied by his father, Naushad Khan during the incident but the latter escaped with no major injuries. Naushad along with Musheer released a video on the latter’s official Instagram handle.
“First of all, I would like to thank Allah for this new life. I am fine now. My father was with me, he is also fine now. I would like to thank you all for your prayers,” said Musheer as quoted by IANS.
The injury would come as a massive blow for the young star who was slated to be a part of the India A squad that would tour Australia later this year. He had an impressive show during the recently concluded Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament, smashing 181 to single-handedly lift India B during their clash against India A.
“Good evening, first of all, I would like to thank the Almighty for this new life. I would also like to thank all those people who have prayed for us – well-wishers, friends, and relatives. I am very thankful for all of them,” Musheer’s father, Naushad said in the video.

“I would also like to thank the MCA and BCCI, who are taking very good care. They are going to give an update on what is going to happen in the future. I would also like to say what we have not got, we should be patient about it, and what we have got, need to be thankful for it, and this is life,” Naushad added.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is yet to name a replacement for Musheer, India’s leading run-getter in this year’s U19 World Cup, in the Irani Cup squad led by veteran Test batter Ajinkya Rahane.
