Ravichandran Ashwin Keeps Top Spot, Jasprit Bumrah Jumps to Fourth in ICC Men's Test Bowler's Rankings

India’s veteran off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has kept the top spot in the latest ICC bowler’s rankings while team-mate, Jasprit Bumrah has jumped to fourth in the rankings which were released on Wednesday

In the first Test against England, Ashwin managed to take six wickets to take him to 853 points in the rankings while the pacer Bumrah jumped up to fourth with 825 points after taking five wickets at Hyderabad.

Ravindra Jadeja is also in the top-10 rankings of the bowling charts with him standing at the sixth spot whilst a significant lead in the all-rounders list for the Test format.

England’s Joe Root went up to the fourth spot with 313 points in the all-rounders rankings and could go up even further if he can maintain his form with the ball.

Root who is known for his batting ability, showcased his spin-bowling skills by taking five wickets in the first Test against India. He was also used as the opening bowler for England with the new ball in the second innings as well.

His display with the ball now has him at his career-best rating on the list among Test all-rounders. He is now behind Ravichandran Ashwin and Shakib-al-Hasan as Axar Patel dropped a spot to sixth on the list.

Among the batters, Virat Kohli jumped up a spot to sixth in the batting rankings while the English vice-captain, Ollie Pope after his stellar knock of 196 jumped 15 spots to secure the 15th position. The English opening batter, Ben Duckett also gained five spots to be at the 22nd position in the rankings.

The Aussie opener, Usman Khawaja was able to gain two spots to jump to the eighth position after scoring a fifty in the second Test against the West Indies at the Gabba.

The West Indies bowlers also had a significant rise in the rankings as three of the pacers improved their spots in the list. Kemar Roach has jumped up two spots to be at 17 while Alzarri Joseph has climbed four spots to 33rd and the hero of the Gabba Test, Shamar Joseph climbed up 42 spots to be the 50th-ranked bowler in the Test format.
