India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to return for the upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka where the senior duo will take part in the three-match ODI series.
As per a report by the Indian Express, the selectors have decided to grant Gautam Gambhir’s request to bring in the experienced duo as it would be his first series as the Team India Head Coach.
The Indian team will be taking part in a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series which will take part in Pallekele and Colombo respectively.

With regards to the marquee Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, the report claims that the selectors have opted to not pick the fast bowler and he will be rested for the short series.
Hardik Pandya, India’s premier all-rounder will only be taking part in the T20I series but will not be participating in the 50-over games. It is also suggested that the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant is set to be picked in both T20I and ODI squads.
The upcoming tour will serve as a new beginning as Team India is set to begin their journey under Gautam Gambhir who will look to make sure the side starts on a positive note and help Indian cricket move to greater heights.
The last time both Rohit and Kohli featured in the ODI side was during India’s crushing loss against Australia in the World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad.

Both men however managed to bounce back and and played crucial roles in India’s T20I World Cup. Since then, both men along with Ravindra Jadeja have announced their retirement from the format, thus marking the end of an era.
Now Gautam Gambhir will play a big role in taking Indian cricket forward and helping unearth new talents and take the baton forward.
