Scotland and Namibia have both failed to make the Super Six stage of the ICC U-19 2024 World Cup. They are now set to compete in a play-off match to make up the bottom four teams in the final standings in the tournament.
Scotland began their campaign for international glory with a seven-wicket loss against England. They next lost a second successive game to the West Indies in their next game by five wickets. Nothing changed in the third match as the Scottish side finished their group stage with another loss against the hosts South Africa. In that match, Jamie Dunk and Owen Gwyn Thomas Gould both produced 90-run knocks for Scotland but the team fell short in the bowling half. The Scots failed to pick up wickets which ultimately led to the hosts running away with a victory while having 23 overs to spare. They will now be looking to finish their tournament on a winning note against Namibia.
Scotland and Namibia’s U-19 World Cup play-off match will take place on February 1 at the Sahara Park Willowmoore Cricket Stadium. Namibia, on the other hand, lost their group stage games against Australia by four wickets, Srilanka by 77 runs and Zimbabwe by eight wickets. They will also be itching to pick up their first victory of the tournament against Scotland next.
