T20 World Cup: Sachin Tendulkar Says Indian Bowlers 'Were The Apple of Our Eyes' Against Pakistan

Sachin Tendulkar took a cheeky dig at Pakistan as India put up a clutch performance against their arch-rivals at the T20 World Cup. After a poor show with the bat, the Men in Blue tightened their shoelaces in the second half to clinch a 6-run victory over the 2022 finalists. Sachin was present at the Nassau Country International Cricket Stadium during the high-octane affair on June 9. He was spotted supporting the Rohit Sharma-led side from the stands, alongside his wife Anjali and daughter Sara Tendulkar. Following India’s victory, Sachin shared a picture of the Indian team on Instagram. He then wrote, “India vs Pakistan. New continent, same result.”

Speaking on the game, Sachin Tendulkar pointed at how it were the Indian bowlers who proved to be crucial on the New York pitch. In his post, the Master Blaster highlighted that the T20 format has always been batter friendly but it still couldn’t stop the Indian bowlers from tearing apart Pakistan’s batting order. “T20 may be a batters’ game, but in New York, bowlers were the Apple of our eyes today.” Sachin also commended the atmosphere at the stadium saying, “What a thrilling match! Great atmosphere and a wonderful exhibition of our great game in America. Well played, India.”

Fans have now reacted to Sachin Tendulkar’s post with many praising the cricketer for his words. One of them wrote, “Nice one paaji.”

Sachin Tendulkar wasn’t the only one to congratulate India on a historic win. Indian batting great Virender Sehwag also shared a celebratory post after India’s triumph in New York. Tweaking Shah Rukh Khan’s superhit dialogue from the film Baazigar, he wrote, “Haar se jitane waale ko Bumrah kehte hain. What a fabulous spell and a very special win in New York.”

Suresh Raina gave a shout-out to team India’s “great character and hunger to win against Pakistan.”

Indian ex-cricketer Wasim Jaffer also celebrated India’s victory with a hilarious post. Sharing a meme on X, Jaffer wrote, “Bumrah and company snatching win from Pakistan”.

India lived up to their moniker of the best-ranked T20I team in the world on Sunday. The Men in Blue didn’t show up with the willow but made a solid comeback in the second half to seal a narrow victory. They will next face the co-hosts United States on June 12.
