Virat Kohli had a phenomenal last year that saw him hit a massive peak of his illustrious career. After a stretch of inconsistent form from 2019 to 2022, he took the following year by storm. The Indian stalwart notched six centuries and eight fifties in the 24 innings he played with a best score of 166.
Besides the jaw-dropping individual numbers, Virat Kohli also amassed some team success with India last year. He played a crucial role in the Men in Blue’s Asia Cup campaign scoring a century against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super 4 stage. Just a few months later, Kohli carried forward the momentum at the ODI World Cup held at home. In that event, Kohli put a record-breaking tally of 765 runs in 11 matches. It saw him surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs (673) scored in a single ODI World Cup edition.
Virat Kohli also broke another major record by notching his 50th ODI ton against New Zealand in the tournament’s semi-finals. It moved him one century past Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 hundreds.
Virat Kohli will next take to the field on June 5 with the aim of winning his first-ever T20 World Cup crown. He is heading into the tournament as the Orange Cap holder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season scoring741 runs in 15 matches.
