From time to time, the Indian government rolls out recruitment options for various posts in the army, air force, and navy. Agniveer is one such recruitment exam for youngsters to get into the defence services. One important aspect of Agniveer is the physical test. The candidates have to pass certain criteria in order to join the defence services. Physical fitness is given a lot of importance during Agniveer recruitment. So, let’s look at some physical fitness criteria for Agniveer recruitment:

Agniveer Recruitment in the Indian Army:

Age Limit: 17.5 years to 21 years

Education: 10th pass

Height: For the post of General Duty, Technical, and Tradesman, the height should be 170 centimetres. For the clerk storekeeper, the height should be 162 centimetres.

Chest: The chest width should be 77 centimetres, and there should be an expansion of at least 5 centimetres in it.

Physical Efficiency Test: The candidate has to run 1.6 km in 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Apart from that, they also have to do 10 pull-ups, a nine-foot jump, and zig-zag balancing.

Agniveer recruitment in the Air Force:

Age Limit: 17½ years to 21 years

Education: 12th pass with Science/Arts subjects with at least 50 percent marks.

Height: The height of male candidates should be 152.5 cm, and the height of female candidates should be 152 cm.

Chest: As per the information, the expansion of the chest should be at least 5 cm.

Physical Efficiency Test: Men will have to run 1.6 km in 7 minutes. Women will have to run 1.6 km in 8 minutes.

Men: Pushups: 10 pushups in 1 minute

Situps: 10 sit ups in 1 minute

Squats: 20 squats in 1 minute

Women: 10 sit ups in 1 minute

15 squats in 1 minute

Agniveer Recruitment in the Navy:

Agniveer is recruited for two posts in the Indian Navy – Agniveer SSR, that is senior secondary recruit, and Agniveer MR, that is matric recruit.

Education: Agniveer SSR – 12th pass with Mathematics and Physics subjects. For Agniveer, MR 10th pass.

Age Limit: 17.5–21 years

Height: The height of men should be at least 157 cm, and that of women should be 152 cm.

Physical Efficiency Test:

Race: Men will have to run 1.6 km in 6 minutes and 30 seconds, and women will have to cover the same distance in 8 minutes.

Situps: Men will have to do 20 sit ups, and women will have to do 15 sit ups.

Pushups: Men will have to do 12 pushups.

Bent Knee Situps: Women will have to do 12 bent knee sit ups.
