Joining the army is a matter of great pride. Four students from Lucknow University brought pride to the education institute and their respective families and friends. National Cadet Corps (NCC) 64 Uttar Pradesh Battalion of Lucknow University, Shivam Pandey, Ashok Kumar Yadav, Abhijeet Pandey and Khushi Kumari have been selected in military academies of the Indian Army. Shivam Pandey has been selected for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. He pursued a Bsc from Lucknow University, while Ashok Kumar Yadav and Abhijeet Pandey were selected for Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. These two have completed their BSc and BA from the same university. Another student, Khushi Kumari is the only girl who has been selected in the National Defense Academy (NDA), Pune. She is a first-year student pursuing her BA degree. All these cadets of 64 UP Battalion NCC have completed important camps as part of NCC.
Shivam Pandey, a resident of Gonda, was selected in the tenth attempt. He said that his father is a part of the security team at Uttar Pradesh’s Vidhan Bhavan. Reportedly, the young man has been preparing for this for a long time and finally cleared it on the tenth attempt. He currently resides in the Cantonment area of Lucknow city and he has always been surrounded by army officers since his childhood. Even his friends were in defence, which further motivated him to join the army. No one in his family is from an army background.
Ashok Yadav and Khushi Kumari were selected as military officers in the Indian Army. These students come from an army background. Ashok Yadav’s father is a retired army officer and the young man was selected as an officer in his second attempt. Khushi Kumari, who hails from Bihar has almost every family member from the army and it was her second attempt as well.
Their hard work, dedication and determination are a testament to the fact that no matter what the challenges are, one can succeed.
