The upcoming International Conference titled “Greece and India: History, Society, Science, and Entrepreneurship” scheduled for April 8-10 at the JNU Convention Centre in New Delhi marks a significant occasion for fostering intellectual and cultural exchanges between Greece and India. Co-organised by the Greek Chair of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Athens Kapodistrian University, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the International Hellenic University, this event aims to strengthen academic cooperation and promote closer ties between the people of the two nations.

This conference is especially noteworthy as it represents the first high-ranking delegation visit following the upgrade of India and Greece’s bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership. The Secretary-General, Mr. I. Chryssoulakis, and the Secretary-General for Higher Education of the Greek Ministry of Education, Mr. O. Zorras, will deliver video addresses, further endorsing the conference’s stature.

The presence of the Greek Ambassador and the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakashi Lekhi, as the Chief Guest, adds to the event’s prominence. Their participation underlines the mutual interest in deepening the cooperation between the two countries.

This conference is the third in a series on Greece and India within two years, reflecting the sustained efforts to enhance bilateral relations. With the support of the Embassy of Greece in India, additional networking opportunities for Indian and Greek academics are planned, including a visit to the IIT Delhi Research and Innovation Centre (FITT), to facilitate further collaboration and exchange. The event not only aims to explore new academic cooperation areas but also to strengthen the strategic partnership between Greece and India by fostering deeper cultural and educational ties. It serves as a pivotal moment in the ongoing dialogue between the two countries, reflecting their commitment to enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation in various spheres, including education, research, and entrepreneurship.
