Bangalore: Bengaluru FC got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Warriors FC of Singapore in a group stage match of the AFC Cup football tournament on Tuesday.

Midfielder Joshua Walker put the home team ahead in the 36th minute the strike turned out to be the decisive one of the game held at the Kanteerava Stadium.

Walker scored through a penalty kick awarded after C K Vineet was brought down inside the box.

With this win, Bengaluru FC maintained their second position in Group B with six points from three games, while the Warriors are yet to open their account having suffered defeats to Persipura and Maziya S&RC prior to today's result.

Bengaluru FC came into this match without the service of a few key players including star striker Sunil Chhetri and Robin Singh.

As was said by coach Ashely Westwood at the pre-match press conference, Bengaluru FC proved to be better equipped to deal with the absence of their important players this time around.

Without the likes of Chhetri and Singh, Bengaluru FC had suffered a defeat in their last game, against Persipura Jayapura, but made amends for that with a much-needed win against the Singapore outfit.

Warriors came into this match following a 6-0 drubbing by Albirex Niigata.
