Giggs to replace Moyes as interim Manchester United manager
"Ryan Giggs, the club's most decorated player, will assume responsibility for the first team until a permanent appointment can be made," the club has said.

Manchester United stalwart Ryan Giggs will take charge as manager of the top English Premier League club after David Moyes' sorry 10-month stay ended on Tuesday.

Moyes left the club after a poor record during his short stay, after which the club announced on its website that Giggs will take over until a permanent replacement is named.

"Following the departure of David Moyes as manager, Ryan Giggs, the club's most decorated player, will assume responsibility for the first team until a permanent appointment can be made," the club said. "The club will make no further comment on this process until it is concluded," the statement on the United's website further read.

Louis van Gaal, the current Netherlands coach, has been the favourite of British bookmakers to succeed Moyes on a permanent basis, with Jurgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund being another contender.

Moyes' position had become untenable since Sunday, when United lost 2-0 to Everton in the Premier League to ensure England's biggest club over the last two decades will miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time in 19 years. It also left United seventh in the league, a season after winning their 20th championship by 11 points, and on course for their lowest league finish since 1990.
