Juventus are, reportedly, looking to sign Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey once his current deal runs out. While the European transfer window came to a close last month, big clubs continue plotting and preparing for future signings. In a similar scenario, CaughtOffside reported that the Bianconeri have shown ‘concrete interest’ in bringing the Ghana international home once his contract with Arsenal expires. It has also been stated that Juventus would be ready to offer the 31-year-old a three-year contract. Other big names such as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also, reportedly, expressed their interest in signing Partey.
The same report further claimed there has been a long-standing interest in Thomas Partey from Saudi Pro League powerhouses as well. Clubs like Al Hilal and Al Ahli are still considering the prospect of signing the former Atletico Madrid midfielder.
Amid all the foreign interest, Thomas Partey continues to be a key player for Arsenal. He has been a top performer for the London giants. But Partey has struggled with fitness issues recently which may prove to be a major hindrance for him in obtaining a new deal with the English side.
On the other hand, it looks like Juventus are not too bothered with the cons of signing Thomas Partey. The Serie A giants seem prepared to take the risk of securing a couple of prime football years left in the Arsenal footballer’s career. Partey’s current contract with the Gunners binds him to the club until June 2025.
Arsenal also signed Mikel Merino this summer, providing Mikel Arteta another useful option in the midfield. Declan Rice could also drop into more of a defensive role than how he has played so far. He has adapted to playing more like a number 8 as Thomas Partey has maintained his place as the first choice in the number 6 position in front of the defence.
Thomas Partey recently featured in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brighton on August 31 at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal will next feature against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, September 15. Having played three matches so far in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta‘s men have collected seven points without conceding a defeat yet.
