London: The Premier League has launched a bid to eradicate bad behavior which it believes is preventing the world's richest soccer competition from becoming universally popular.

All 20 clubs will be visited by officials ahead of next month's season launch with video clips highlighting aggressive confrontations involving players, coaches and referees.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore says "people look to us to set the example across the world" and "those behavioral tendencies that just stepped over the edge" are holding the league back from being "absolutely universally popular."

The Premier League's intensity has helped to raise 8.3 billion pounds ($12 billion) from television rights for the next three seasons.

The clampdown on ill-discipline was instigated by the Premier League, the Football Association and the professional leagues below the top flight.
