Seville: Spain striker Alvaro Negredo spoiled Malaga's start to the new season as he hit both Sevilla goals in a 2-1 Andalusian derby win for his side against their newly-rich rivals on Sunday.
Malaga have invested heavily this summer, bringing in a string of star signings, including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Santi Cazorla and Jeremy Toulalan.
All three of those started, but it was Negredo who had an immediate impact as he headed home a Jesus Navas cross after just two minutes to open the scoring.
And the former Real Madrid youngster made it 2-0 after 25 minutes, when he drove home a fierce left-footed angled shot, which gave keeper Willy Caballero no chance.
Cazorla gave Malaga hope as he crashed home an unstoppable free-kick with 10 minutes left, but Sevilla held on to mark the fourth anniversary of their former player Antonio Puerta's death with an impressive win.
